Call for Applications: CDKN Climate Compatible Development Impact Research Fund

CDKNThe launch of CDKN’s new international research fund aims to fill priority research gaps and address key questions relating to aspects of climate compatible development (CCD). There are affinities with IRDR’s research agenda on resilience and vulnerabilities.

The approximate total budget for the call is up to £3.35 million, and it is expected that some 8 to 16 projects of 12-20 months’ duration can be funded.

The research call challenges the international research community to develop innovative research to provide a robust and accessible evidence base for decision-making, and to achieve maximum policy impact.

The call specifically invites proposals on four themes:
1. Robust national plans for climate compatible development transitions
2. Enabling conditions for urban climate compatible development
3. Climate-related disaster risk management and adaptation
4. Climate Compatible Development and the Water, Energy and Food Security Nexus

For the second and third of these research themes it is expected that proposals will explore aspects of urban resilience, the socio-economic impacts of DRM and adaptation initiatives, and the resilience of formal and informal micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, for example.

The Call invites innovative proposals for high quality research which reimagines our subthemes according to the applicants’ own knowledge and experience.

The deadline for submission of completed Expressions of Interest is Friday, 26 September 2014, 12:00pm (United Kingdom, GMT+1).
