History of the World Social Science Forum (WSSF)
The first WSSF organised by ISSC took place in May 2009, in Bergen, Norway. The theme of this Forum was “One Planet – Worlds Apart?” CODESRIA, HSRC and the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO) organised a number of panels that added strong Southern voices to the debates at the gathering. The second of these ISSC events, hosted by a Canadian consortium led by the Montreal secretariat of the International Political Science Association (IPSA) took place in Montreal, Canada from 13 to 15 October 2013 with a thematic focus on “Social Transformation and the Digital Age”.
