IRDR aims at connecting and stimulating initiatives that  national and regional level develop and implement integrated approaches to research and action in disaster risk reduction and resilience building. To this end, it is setting up National Committees, and seeks coordination with existing ISDR National and Regional Platforms, as well as with activities arising from the science plans in the area of hazards and disasters that were developed by the scientific communities served by ICSU Regional Offices.
